Description
The project activity involves the installation of 1 MW1 grid connected run-of-river hydropower plant at Hal Oya in Campion Estate, Bogawanthalawa, Nuwara Eliya District, Sri Lanka. The electricity generated by the project activity will be supplied to Sri Lankan national grid (“the national grid"), which is owned and operated by Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). In the absence of the project activity, the similar electricity would have been generated by fossil fuel based power plants, which dominates the national grid. Estimated annual electricity generation of the project activity is 4.18 GWh2. The project was jointly developed by Bogawanthalawa Tea Estate PLC and Campion Hydro Pvt Ltd.
